Nothing is real except our delusions.
I was blindsided by Crohns Disease (an incurable genetic disorder that causes immune system to attack the body) a few years back, I am a pretty sick guy pretty often. Chronic illness finally took me out of the working world, and I became a stay at home dad. It is tough sometimes, but overall I am someone you will find smiling more often than not.
These days, I try to exploit my good days as much as I can, getting out, with camera in hand. It keeps me out in the world, and allows me to show others the way I look at things. I am very happy that others enjoy the results of my self-imposed art therapy.
Chronic illness as well as depression are things I face every day. I make it a personal goal to reach out to others that struggle with severe illness and the depression it brings. I am currently thinking about organizing a mentoring program for other patients, photography has been a way I try to look for a little inner peace (physical and mental), and it has been deeply beneficial to me in many ways. I would like to share that if I could.
I hope you enjoy my contribution to Marlborough Patch!
