BHS Graduation 2011: The Ceremony

A selection of photos and videos from the Brookline High School Class of 2011 Graduation.

The Class of 2011 Graduation Ceremony took place yesterday at Brookline High School, in the Cypress Field. The weather was sunny, the field covered in chairs and parents, and the students heard from a number of School Faculty and Staff with inspiring thoughts to send them off with. Two students also presented speeches to their classmates. The original commencement speaker was to be Dr. Robert Weintraub, known as Dr. Bob to the students. He was unfortunately taken ill, and instead Associate Dean of Students Lindsay Murphy presented some of his thoughts, collected from notes taken from his hospital room. The speech allowed for Murphy to go on, but she said she felt he had said all that needed to be said.  Musical selections accented the …

A neat tradition that isn't obvious in these photos: on their first day of school as freshmen, the class ceremoniously walked through the arches INTO the interior lawn area, to be greeted by the administration, staff and their junior mentors. Four years later, they EXITED through the arches to the big field, ready to take on the world!   more ›

Two Brookline High School students addressed their classmates during the Graduation Ceremonies.

[Update Sat 4:32 p.m.] Joe Sax' family sent a link to an audio file of his speech in its entirety.   ---- At Brookline High School's graduation ceremony, the program allowed a few minutes for inspiring thoughts from two of the class' members: Laurie Katz and Joe Sax.
