A selection of weekend activities for revolutionaries, or for families: fundraisers, trees, construction trucks, and a fashion show.

When/where: Arsenal Mall, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. Why: A chance to check out some of the big vehicles that help keep life moving. Among those which will be there: a Watertown Police Department Cruiser, Massachusetts State Police Cruiser, Pizzeria Regina Delivery Truck, WEEI Vehicle, American Red Cross Ambulance, Dump Truck, Front End Loader, BOND Bros truck, and more. See them all, or hang out with Blinkee the Clown. How much: $5 When/where: Meet at 512 Washington St, noon on Saturday. Why: Get to know the many trees of the Aspinwall Hill/Griggs Road area, and get a brisk afternoon walk in. Led by Tree Planting Committee Chairman Hugh Mattison, you should walk away with more knowledge of about 10 different trees in the neighborhood…

Get out for labor day weekend, whether you stay around town, or head out on a day trip.

  As we suggested yesterday, there are more than a few fun Labor Day weekend getaways--like a greek festival, a laser show, and a regatta, all happening around Boston, Rhode Island and the Seacost New Hampshire area. However, if you're looking to stay a little closer to town, there is still plenty to do. When/where: 220 William T Morrissey Blvd in Boston or 137 Warren Ave in Plymouth, All day! When/where: Various restaurants around town, Friday and Sunday. Why: Get into some of the spots you've thought about going to, but haven't necessarily wanted to pay for. The menus are prix fixe, so you can decide what you want before you go. Some restaurants even offer wine pairings at an additional cost. Reservations can either be made through Open Table or by calling the individual restaurants.
