A community safety meeting is planned for Monday evening at the Devotion School.
Brookline Police Chief Daniel O’Leary will host a community safety meeting on Monday, February 11 at 7 p.m. in caferteria of the Devotion School. The North Brookline Neighborhood Association, which covers the areas of precincts 2, 8 and 9 in North Brookline is sponsoring this meeting with the Brookline Police Department. Selectman Nancy Daily will be in attendance as well as a representative from the Boston University Community Relations Department. Residents are asked to come out a voice their concerns and hear from the police regarding public safety in the wake of recent street crimes. When a police officer does something beyond his pledge to "serve and protect" Brookline, he may be honored with a commendation of some kind. Last night, during the regular Selectmen's meeting, the room was filled with roughly 30 colleagues, family members, and supporters for three Brookline officers receiving special commendation: Officers Sean O'Brien and Evans Alfred, and Detective Andrew Lipson. Patrol Officer Sean O'Brien received the Police Officer of the Year 2010 award, as well as a Commendation medal.
