Steaks from Del Frisco Grille will be available to the "sophisticated palate of Chestnut Hill," according to a press release issued by the shopping center's owner, WS Development, who announced today that the national steakhouse--with locations in New York, Las Vegas and Houston--signed a lease for a Chestnut Hill Shopping Center space. "We've been focused on finding the right mix of high-quality food operators to serve this dense, high-income market," said Mark Roberts, SVP of Leasing at WS Development. "Del Frisco's is expert at catering to the refined, well-traveled customer. We're excited to welcome Del Frisco's to Chestnut Hill." The Chestnut Hill Shopping Center now has a basement and parts of the foundation, sections were poured yesterday.
The Chestnut Hill Shopping Center is now on solid footing: the basement and part of the foundation of the site have been poured. WS Development's Corporate Marketing Director David Fleming sent an e-mail saying, that about 10,000 cubic yards of concrete were poured yesterday, to create the basement and foundation of the 115,000 square-foot building that will eventually house Sports Club/LA and a National Amusements Cinema De Lux. Sports Club/LA is expected to open in winter, and the movie theatre in the late winter or early spring. The former site of the Rugged Bear will eventually house the Shake Shack and Pinkberry. Crews worked through the afternoon, and more than 90 trucks came to deliver the concrete needed to make the foundation. …

Work has started at the former Macy's site and demolition will begin next week.
The former Macy's site at the Chestnut Hill Shopping Center will soon be home to a fitness center, cinema and several retail stores. The Sports Club/LA will be one of the new tenants at 55 Boylston St., according to property owner WS Development. Work recently began on the exterior of the old Macy's building to prepare the site for demolition and construction fencing has been set up in the area. WS Development Director of Corporate Marketing David Fleming told Newton Patch Monday that construction crews have been piecing down the outside of the structure and removing asbestos from the 1950s-era building. W.S. Development's proposed revamp of the Chestnut Hill Shopping Center won the unanimous support of Newton's Land Use Committee this week, though aldermen voiced concerns about traffic and parking problems that could be caused by the project's success. The Land Use committee voted 7-0 Tuesday night to grant several necessary approvals to the Chestnut Hill Developer's plan to replace the building that currently houses Century Bank and City Sports with a three-story multi-function (office and retail) building. The plan needed board approval to build a multi-story building, rezone the Route 9 carriageway for potential angled parking in front of the building, and waive requirements to build additional parking to handle the increased volume …
