AMC Chestnut Hill Closed; New Showcase Super Lux on the Way
The Chestnut Hill City Sports has also closed, as it prepares for a move to the new building next door.
The AMC cinema in Chestnut Hill has officially closed up shop, making way for a new Showcase Super Lux slated to move in just a few doors down. The five-screen Chestnut Hill movie theatre closed its doors on Thursday, Jan. 17, according to representatives from WS Development, the owner and operator of The Street (formerly the Chestnut Hill Shopping Center). A sign had been posted on the theatre's marquee announcing its closure, but has since been taken down. Although he did not comment on the future of the theatre building, WS Development Corporate Marking Director David Fleming told Newton Patch this week that the AMC space will be included in the continued redevelopment of the shopping center.
