Five Things: January 14: Sing, Play, Grow!

Here are five things going on in town today.

1. Weather: The National Weather Service predicts a chance of showers before 8 a.m., then there is a chance of sun breaking through with a high of 52. The evening will cloud over with a low near 31.   2. Sing, Play, Grow! La Vie Boheme Thrives at Jamaica Plain's Footlight Club

The Footlight Club’s current production, “RENT,” opened to a packed house blocks away from Jamaica Pond. Recommended in this week's Get Out!, the community theatre’s adaptation of Jonathan Larson’s retro rock opera is a stellar display of talent. Directed by Bill Doscher, the gifted lead characters are supported by an inspired cast, all of whom sung and danced their ways into the avid audience’s heart. Set in New York’s gritty East Village at the end of the last millennium, "RENT" is the story of an artsy group of down and out friends who are beset by drug addiction and AIDS.
