Brookline Activist to Help Mass Dems Draft 2013 Platform

The Massachusetts Democratic Committee Platform Chair Mayor Setti Warren named the Platform Drafting Committee last week.

As the Massachusetts Democratic Committee works to put together its 2013 Platform, local communities will be well-represented on the party's Platform Drafting Committee.   Newton resident and activist Holly Ryan was named last week as a member of the committee and will focus on the area of justice and civil rights, according to a press release issued last week by the Mass. Junior League of Boston for Annual Show House Event

35 area designers breathe life into an old property. Mayor Setti Warren welcomed the Junior League to Newton during a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, Oct. 16.

A number of area designers, including Brookline's Marilyn MacLeod, are breathing new life into a century-and-a-half old property.  The Show House event features 35 area design firms that have come together to re-design the 145-year-old Potter Estate on the Jackson-Walnut Park School Campus in Newton.  Ticketholders will be able to view the unique makeover room by room now through November 18. Tickets are $35 at the door.  MacLeod, a decorator, took on the property's flower-cutting room, in which she channeled Monet and the property's Mansard roof, according to a Boston Globe piece, in transforming what she called a "rough space."
