Update: According to the Brookline Music School's Twitter account, the final total raised was $8916. The Brookline Music School hosted its Music Marathon for Japan on Saturday. From 8 a.m. until 9 p.m., students, teachers and special guests–such as Former New England Conservatory Director Victor Rosenbaum and Keisuke Wakao, Principal Oboe with the Boston Symphony Orchestra–came and played in the school. Guests donated money, or purchased goods from the Bake Sale table, the proceeds of which went to benefit the Japanese Association of Greater Boston. The event raised $7000 for relief efforts in Japan, with some pledges which may increase the final total. Wakao also has a Japan benefit concert coming up on April 10.
