How did Brookline Vote in the Primaries?

The results of the yesterdays primaries came out. Who did Brookline go out to the polls for?

The polls are closed and the results are in, but how did Brookline vote in yesterday's State Primaries?  The results were posted on Boston.com last night. Scroll through the list to see how Brookline voted on the various races that were on yesterday's ballot. Race winners, at the time of writing, are in bold, Brookline's votes, according to the Globe, are listed. Races with one name were uncontested. [Update: Unofficial results from the town have been posted, and the results below have been updated accordingly. See the PDF to the right for the full breakdown of results. Out of the 38,223 registered voters in town, 5,588 turned out for the primaries, a total of 14.6 percent according to town numbers. 2012 State Primaries: The Ballot

Breakdown of the November Primary ballot, and more information on how voting works. Polls open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. today for voting on the 2011 Town Election. Mouse over the map for more information on the polling locations indicated by pins. If you're not sure which precinct you are in, check the "Where do I vote, MA" site and input your address. To cast your votes, go to the check-in table at your polling place and tell the poll worker your street, house number and then name (in that order). They will hand you a ballot and provide you with your instructions. If you are not listed but should be, you need to fill in a "Provisional Ballot." Poll workers will have more information. Fourth Congressional Candidates Square Off at Stonehill College Forums

Joseph Kennedy III, Herb Robinson, Rachel Brown, Sean Bielat, Elizabeth Childs and David Steinhof were on hand to discuss jobs, the economy, health care and taxes.

Voters heard a variety of different views from both sides of the political isle Tuesday night at Stonehill College in Easton when Democratic and Republican candidates for the 4th Congressional District squared off in seperate debate forums. Editor-in-Chief of The Herald News and Taunton Daily Gazette Lisa Strattanand moderated the event, which was hosted by the Martin Institute at Stonehill. Questions came from a panel made up of WGBH Boston political reporter Adam Reilly, WCVB-TV political reporter Sean Kelly and Herald News editorial page editor Aaron Frechette. Fourth District GOP Candidates Talk Taxes, Health Care and Gun Control

The three republican candidates vying for the Fourth District nomination debated on NECN's Broadside last night.

Although they had less than a half hour to make their voices heard, the Republican candidates for the Fourth Congressional District fit in a full plate of issues and opinions during last night's debate on NECN's Broadside with Jim Braude.  Sean Bielat, Elizabeth Childs and David Steinhof joined Braude for a series of questions on topics including gun control, taxes, health care and their potential Democrat opponent.  Check out the NECN debate online.  Just a couple of weeks after the deadly theatre shooting in Aurora, Colorado, Braude started off the debate by asking the candidates whether they would support legislation for increased gun control. With so many names vying for the Fourth Congressional District seat, there is likely to be a variety of candidate opinions when it comes to the U.S. Supreme Court's (SCOTUS) health care ruling yesterday.  On June 28, the court decided 5-4 to uphold the mandate for individuals to purchase health insurance, the most controversial component of the Affordable Care Act. Elizabeth Childs Gets Her Name on the Ballot

Congressional Candidate Elizabeth Childs makes her candidacy official, handing in over three thousand signatures from supporters.

One more Brookline name is now officially on the ballot for the fourth congressional district race.  Elizabeth Childs, a Brookline School Committee member, announced earlier this year that she would run for the Congressional seat Barney Frank said he would not run to reclaim. On Wednesday, she announced via email and Twitter that she had handed in the required signatures for her name to appear on the ballot: @childs4congress: Delivered 3,200 certified signatures for #ma04. Deficit Projected in 2012 Brookline School Budget

The school budget for fiscal year 2012 is projected to be about $150,000 over.

There may be a deficit, and it’s a bit on the heavy side. That was the news learned during the School Committee meeting Thursday as the Public Schools of Brookline second quarter report for the fiscal year 2012 was released showing a projected budget deficit of about $150,000. The strains on the school system continue to be the growth of spending in special education programs and the ever-expanding enrollment numbers, which has caused pressures on staffing.
