Tessa Lehane has been missing since Christmas Eve.
The search for Tessa Lehane has gone on for a month and a day now. Even with the recent sightings map, it would seem that Dennis Lehane and the team at Finding Tessa have concluded one of two things: “Now that Tessa's been gone a month, we've concluded she's either a.) Still miraculously roaming thru the wilds of Brighton, Brookline, and Allston and has yet to stick her head up long enough to be rescued; or b.) In the custody of someone who, we hope, is taking great care of her.” But there is a more pressing issue with Tessa, which Lehane said needs to be addressed. "If the latter, we need to get the word out there that before we adopted her, Tessa had tested positive for heartworm. She must have this condition medically treated in the …

What do you think about missing dog signs in town?
Yesterday, we ran an article about the town’s displeasure with the missing signs for Tessa Lehane. In response, Dennis Lehane wrote: "I can see the town of Brookline's point. And there's no reason we should expect preferential or selective treatment because of my last name. If this is their policy then we will abide by it and take the signs down. The town of Brookline and the city of Boston have been nothing but supportive during this situation and we thank them wholeheartedly." A few readers responded to this: Bill Davidson: "Oh, Brookline, you love to rain on a parade, don't you? Don't ever change." Carol Post Pfaelzer: "Unbelievable! Their arrogance is unmet by other communities trying to BE a community of people helping one another.…

Dennis Lehane’s Finding Tessa page put out a statement: "The Town of Brookline has issued a statement that we will need to have all flyers down by Monday, or be fined. We will leave the flyers up through the weekend, to get as many eyes looking for her as possible. We'll keep them up on community boards, and in businesses that have been generous enough to let us put a sign in their window. We are asking that if you pick up posters or have posters or flyers, please do not post them in Brookline. If you can distribute them otherwise, please do! We will be trying to hand them to people at T stops and any other ideas people have. If people have connections with UPS or Fed Ex drivers or mail carriers, please let us know and we'll get you the …

As Mr. Lehane understands the Town of Brookline allows a reasonable period of time to post lost dog notices, yard sale advertisements, offers to teach guitar and all the other material which we see taped to lamp posts and utiltity polls. Without an occassional 'clean-out' we'd be overrun with them. I'm sure you've all witnessed times when the posting have gotten out of hand. Before he was asked …   more ›
