Cutty's "Triple-D" Segment Airing (Again) Tonight

The Diners, Drive-ins and Dives segment filmed at the Brookline Village sandwich shop will re-air tonight.

One of your neighbors is going to be on TV! Your neighbor, in this case, being Cutty's sandwich shop in Brookline Village.  The Cutty's Facebook page posted a reminder last night that their episode on Guy Fieri's "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" will re-air tonight, Friday night, at 9 p.m. on the Food Network (check your local listings). Earlier this year, the Food Network star filmed a segment at the Washington Street sandwich shop. That episode has already aired, but if you missed it the first time around, you can set your DVR tonight to catch it again.  The Food Network star's show travels around the country as the host explores local flavors. In a typical segment, the chef will show Fieri how one or two of their signature dishes are made…

On a quest for the best of Brookline's summer eats through Bites Nearby's past culinary adventures.

Baby, it's hot outside, but these six restaurants have you covered. They'll serve you a hot meal in a cool hangout--or vice versa--when even the thought of turning on the oven makes you break out in a sweat. Cutty's Take a trip to Cutty's for sandwiches worth their wait in line. A favorite is the Spuckie, a combo of meat, cheese, and olive-carrot slaw that plays savory, crunchy, chewy, and hot in every bite. The Ham Dijon is another winner, with soft, smoky ham from Niman Ranch on a baguette spread with Dijon and butter and sliced cornichons for a vinegary contrast. Pack these in your basket, alongside hand-squeezed limeade and a bag of housemade potato chips, for the perfect picnic.   The Abbey One of the best ways to cool off is with a …

Week in Review: Pinkberry, Guy Fieri and a Bike Parade

Guy Fieri reportedly came to town to film at Cutty's. Preparations were made for the Bike Parade today, and Pinkberry is coming to Chestnut Hill.

Starting Monday, the question of the week was Who Has Brookline's Best Grillables? Two new stores are planning to set up shop in the Mall at Chestnut Hill. We also updated our piece "What Businesses is Brookline Missing?," with the opening date for Otto Pizza. Brookline Police Log ended the day with a construction site heist.  Earlier this week, we asked for Letters to the Editor for Town Meeting--which begins on this coming Tuesday. Cutty's was closed, likely because Food Network's Guy Fieri is featuring a taste of Brookline Village. There was an update to the Boston Police "Most Wanted" List. Brookline Arrest Log had a student charged with taking a teacher's phone.  Brookline may be giving out its final few Liquor Licenses, we learned …

Food Network Featuring A Taste of Brookline Village at Cutty's?

Twitter reports Food Network star Guy Fieri is filming "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" at Cutty's in Brookline Village today

Hopefully, Brookline Village's food scene is ready for its close up, because Twitter tells us that Guy Fieri's "Triple-D" is rolling into town. A few users on Twitter report that Food Network's Guy Fieri is filming a segment for "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" Cutty's on Washington Street today. The rumor first came from BostonTweet by way of Twitter user @LillyJ. A sign on the door and a Facebook post confirmed that the restaurant is closed today, will be open on Wednesday, and closed again Thursday. Inside, passers-by could see lights and a crowded kitchen, but little of the celebrity or owner.  The Food Network star's show travels around the country as the host explores local flavors. In a typical segment, the chef will show Fieri how one…

Cutty's: Laid-back Local Sandwich Shop

Local sandwich shop with a foodie famous offering: The Spuckie.

I’m standing in line at Cutty’s, the sharp new sandwich shop in Brookline Village.  In line with me are a couple of college kids, an elderly man on crutches, a glamorous woman toting a Floris-London bag, and a young couple with a stroller.  Ah, sandwiches—the great equalizer. Inside the door is a large sign, handwritten on butcher paper, advertising Cutty’s own pork fat for sale, with suggested uses ranging from the serious (sautéing, roasting) to the tongue-in-cheek (bronzer, eyebrow sculptor).  That’s the kind of place this is: a gourmet sandwich shop for those serious about taste and locally sourced ingredients.  But even if you don’t care about all that—even if you just want a really good sandwich—then this is your kind of place, too. …
