Christmas Tree Pickup Schedule in Brookline

The town will take your tree from the curb in January.

You may not be ready yet to put an end to the holidays, but your tree must be taken down and go out for composting during the first two full weeks of January or you'll be stuck disposing of it on your own.  According to the Town of Brookline's site, "starting December 26th and running until January 31st you may place your tree out on your regular trash collection day for pick up. Tree must not be in a plastic bag or covered with any type of lights, tinsel etc. Do not place your tree out earlier than your collection day or you could be subject to a warning or fine." To get your tree ready for removal, make sure to take off all ornaments, decorations, and stands and place your tree aon the curb by 7 a.m. on your recycling day. Do not put …

Red Cross Offers Tips to Help Prevent Holiday Fires

With trees, extra lights and candle in many homes this month, it's important to be aware of the fire hazards they present.

As beautiful as holiday trees and lights are, they present fire hazards many people may not be aware of. The American Red Cross of Eastern Massachusetts is urging homeowners to use extra caution this time of year to keep the season merry and to prevent holiday fires.
