Brookline police blogged about the arrest in a Beacon Street apartment of a man who allegedly assaulted a woman and the building manager with a knife.
Just before midnight on Oct. 8, Brookline Police arrested and charged a man who, they allege, attempted to murder a woman and stole items from inside her apartment after an argument. According to the Brookline Police Blog, the attacker is being charged with assault-and-battery with a dangerous weapon on the woman inside the apartment and the building manager, armed robbery, and attempted murder by strangulation. The building manager told police that he had gone to investigate an argument in one of the apartments, and found a man wielding a knife, and a woman in a chair crying and bleeding. Following dangerousness hearing at Brookline District Court, Richard Becker held without bail and found dangerous.
A Brookline man who faces 39 gun charges was held today following a dangerousness hearing in Brookline District Court, a Norfolk County District Attorney spokesperson said today. Richard Becker, 55, of 181 Harvard Street, was deemed dangerous in court today by Judge Patricia Curtain. Becker pleaded not guilty to the charges at last week's arraignment. Becker was arrested by Brookline Police last week, when police found a cache of 36 guns in his apartment, as well as two silencers and several high capacity clips. On July 19, he will be before the judge again for a probable cause hearing, with the potential for an indictment. Brookline resident Richard Becker, who faces 39 gun charges, was been ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing. Becker, 55, was arraigned in Brookline District Court on Thursday, June 14 and is scheduled to next appear on June 20. He pleaded not guilty during the hearing, according to his attorney. His attorney also requested Becker have access to medical treatment. Brookline Police released a list of charges against Richard Becker, the man arrested Monday for possession of unlicensed weapons.
Monday evening, Brookline Police arrested Richard Becker, 55, of 181 Harvard Street. The Brookline resident was brought into Beth Israel hospital and held overnight, after he collapsed and requested medical attention when officers served a search warrant for his home. Police released a photo and list of charges earlier today. Becker is charged with 11 counts of possession of a large-capacity rifle, 10 counts of possession of a large-capacity firearm, one count of possession of a rifle, and 14 counts of possession of a firearm, as well as the two counts of possession of a silencer and possession of one large-capacity feeding device--i.e., magazines which can hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition. [Update: Brookline Police Chief Daniel O'Leary provided some more details to the Board of Selectmen at their Tuesday meeting. He reports that Richard Becker had 18 firearms registered to him, and police only recovered 16 of those at the scene, among the 36 weapons recovered. Some of these rifles are not legal in this state. Police also found silencers which he said are illegal in Massachusetts. Among the high-capacity clips officers found, a "banana" clip capable of storing upto 100 rounds. When police informed him that they knew about the guns, and invited him to accompany them during the search, O'Leary says he fell to the ground and requested medical attention. Brookline Police announced two arrests made in a pair of recent crimes: A March armed robbery on Cypress Street, and a home invasion on Parkway Road earlier this week. On March 2, two armed robberies were reported on Cypress Street.
