Several pounds of marijuana sent by FedEx are now in police custody, as are stacks of cash and three young men. During a 5-hour sting operation, police say packages containing bags of pot were sent to fictional names but picked up by real people. Police say they have arrested Jesse Pomponio, a Boston University student; Alexander Zhang, a Mass College of Pharmacy student, and Trevor Powell, all aged 24, and charged them with possession with intent to distribute. Police are looking into a fourth suspect, and hope he will turn himself in. A Brookline man was arrested in Roslindale on a warrant for kidnapping, breaking and entering at night time, and assault-and-battery. Members of the Massachusetts State Police STOP TEAM made a forced entry into 46 Highcrest Terrace in Roslindale on Oct. 15 around 6:43 p.m., according to a Boston Police report. The Boston Police Fugitive Unit assisted the state police. Police arrested Shawn Redden, of 217 Kent St., Brookline, on a warrant out of Newton District Court issued on Oct. 7. The suspect was transported to Boston Police District E-5 for a courtesy booking, and then was released to the custody of the Newton Police Department.

A Middlesex Superior Court grand jury has indicted Craig Cromartie, 44, of Dorchester, on charges that he burglarized apartments and homes in Waltham and other area communities. Brookline and MBTA Police officers find a man with bolt cutters in his pants, attempting to leave the Brookline Village T stop, where some copper wire was freshly cut and coiled.
A Medford man was taking a stiff-legged midnight stroll in Brookline Village, when he was stopped by MBTA and Brookline police. At around 2:15 a.m., Transit Police responded to the Brookline Village T stop and arrested this "Midnight Walker," according the tpdnews blog. They say that Robert O'Neil, 43, of Medford was trying to leave the track area, and seemed "stiff-legged"--likely due to the large set of bolt cutters tucked down his pants, along with a pair of work gloves. Searching the area, MBTA police found copper wire cut into five-foot lengths nearby, and a witness--who saw something and said something--reported that they had seen O'Neil cutting what appeared to be wire on the track bed. A Dorchester man was arraigned and held on $5,000 cash bail yesterday for charges tied to a number of suburban house breaks, including homes in Newton. Craig Cromartie, 44, appeared yesterday in Dorchester District Court for 10 counts of receiving stolen property, according to a press release issued today by the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office. Assistant District Attorney Nicole Poirier recommended that he be held on a total of $50,000 cash bail – $5,000 for each docketed offense – and that his bail on similar open cases out of Middlesex, Norfolk, and Worcester counties be revoked. However, Judge Robert Tochka imposed the $5,000 bail and ordered Cromartie wear a GPS monitoring device if he makes bail, the DA's office said. …
