Readers and friends of Patch, it is with a heavy heart that I share with you the following news: My time at the helm of Brookline Patch is coming to an end. The Town of Brookline is filled with interesting, smart, engaged, and warm people. Many of you helped me feel welcome when I first arrived on the scene, as well as helping me get oriented in a new town--and a new job. For that, I thank you all. That job is taking me to Needham and Wellesley to run the Patch sites in both of those towns. However, I am not going too far. Odds are good, on my days off, you may find me wandering into some of my Coolidge Corner haunts: Paris Creperie, the Coolidge Corner Theatre and the Brookline Booksmith. For folks who I've met through Twitter, I won't …

Five things today, as The Boss plays for a show at Fenway--or make a TV show and check out the Motherland, or see how else Art Matters.
1. 88ºF is the high and 68ºF is the low that the National Weather Service predicts. Aside from that, it should be a mostly sunny day, although there's a chance of showers, about 20 percent, in the evening. 2. If you think art matters, then perhaps you should meet the organization called Art Matters, who is set to visit Boylston Place. Around 2 p.m. this afternoon, head over to EPOCH Assisted Living at Boylston Place, and see their program on Music and Dance. 3. If you have got tickets to the Bruce Springsteen show tonight, you could start it off with the Hot Stove Cool Music VIP Bash. Before the show, starting at 5 p.m., the band is partying on the Right Roof Deck to celebrate. They are taking donations for Foundation to be Named Later. …

You're not the only one. Here are some helpful hints on how to stay in touch with us!
Every once in awhile, Facebook makes changes that users either love or hate. Over the last few months, the social media giant has changed its algorithm on how to sort users' news feeds—which means that just because you signed up for a page's status updates, it doesn't mean you're going to get them. If you click or hover over the "liked" button on our page, beneath our cover photo, you can choose "show in news feed." This will help you to see more of our posts! 2. Interact! A lot! The more you interact with our Facebook page, the more the Facebook Algorithm thinks you like it. Which means it'll show up in your news feed …
What photo says "Brookline" to you.
Calling all Brookline photographers or artists: We need your help. The Brookline Patch facebook page already made the transition to the new timeline format. For those of you that have already embraced the new format on your personal page, you already know about the cover photo, that one giant photo dominating the screen. We want that one giant photo that dominates the Brookline Patch page to not only be good, but to feel like Brookline. We also want it to be a graphic representation of Brookline. Is it the existing photo of the clocktower in …

How 'bout them apples? Local Legion team wins three of last five, improves record to 5-8.
The Brookline American Legion baseball team is making a push for a strong second half of the season, winning three of its last five games, including last night's 7-4 victory over visiting Needham at Warren Field. Brookline pitcher Adam Blumberg allowed four runs, while striking out eight in 6 1/3 innings, as Post 11 improved its record to 5-8. "He was great all game for us," head coach Patrick Moore said. "He kept the other team way off balance until they got to him late, but overall [it was] an awesome performance." Blumberg almost made it four in a row for Brookline in the complete game department. Mariano Suriel took over in the seventh with the bases loaded and one out. Suriel struck out the first batter he faced, before inducing the …
