Saturday is Missing Children's Day. Take time to look at the photos of children still missing in our state.
According to the Department of Justice, every year hundreds of thousands of kids are reported missing across the country. Some run away, some are abducted. And many have never been found. Saturday is Missing Children's Day. Here is a partial list of children in Massachusetts who have gone missing in recent years. The house passed legislation to treat most 17-year-olds as juvenile defenders. Is this a compassionate or dangerous change?
Massachusetts is currently one of only 11 states that tries 17-year-olds as adults. A bill passed this week by the state's House of Representatives would make these teenagers juvenile defenders, according to a report by 7News Boston. That will put the commonwealth in line with most other states, where adult court is reserved for individuals 18 and older. The bill still allows the state to try 17-year-olds as adults in serious cases, like murders. But proponents hope the change will reduce cases of rape in the state's prison system by keeping younger inmates away from older, stronger convicts. What do you think? During a confrontation with the FBI and the Mass. State Police, a Florida man was shot and killed and an officer was injured.
One man is dead and an agent is injured after a confrontation between the FBI and Mass. State Police in connection with the Boston Marathon bombing in the Orlando area on Wednesday morning. The FBI on Wednesday morning said an agent, two Massachusetts State Police troopers and other law enforcement personnel were interviewing an individual in connection with the Boston Marathon bombing when he attacked the agent. The FBI identified the person shot and killed as Ibragim Todashev, 27. During the confrontation, Todaschev was shot and killed and the agent sustained non-life threatening injuries. "As this incident is under review, we have no further details at this time," the FBI said.

A 13-year-old Boston teenager believed abducted by his father was found by Cambridge police Tuesday night. Massachusetts State Police issued an Amber Alert for 13-year-old Jonathan Moore, whom they believe was abducted by his father Tuesday night. According to the alert, police were searching for 36-year-old Jonathan Moore senior, the child and a woman. Police are looking for a red 1997 Toyota Camry, license plate 634 RH4. The suspected abductor, Moore senior, is black, 36 years old, six feet, three inches tall, with black hair and brown eyes. There was no description of Moore senior's clothing. According to the alert, Moore senior is considered armed and dangerous. While the younger Moore is safe with Cambridge Police, there is no word …

Police believe a Boston woman left Gyu-Kaku with more than just a job offer on Monday. Brookline Police received a call from Gyu-Kaku at 1002 Beacon Street at 12:54 p.m. on May 13 about a larceny that had taken place 15 minutes earlier. The suspect had just come in for a job interview. After reviewing the security footage, the owner saw the suspect take a laptop and an iPhone from a table near the bar and leave the restaurant. These items belonged to an employee. The manager said that he had interviewed the suspect and that she seemed overly nervous. At one point, the manager said he became suspicious of her Brookline Police arrested Jazmin Adames, 21, and charged her with two counts of larceny over $250. Brookline Police left a message…

The National Weather Service is warning of the potential for brush fires in the area Thursday afternoon and night. Counties across Eastern and Central Massachusetts and Rhode Island are under the fire warning. Winds are expected to pick up to at least 30 mph in the afternoon. The wind coupled with “low relative humidities” will cause the risk of fire, according to the NWS.

A Dorchester Man was arrested Friday night after police said they found a Taser and an open bottle of alcohol in his car. At about 2:20 a.m. on May 10,an unmarked Brookline Police Officer observed two vehicles turn right onto Pleasant Street from Commonwealth Avenue and head right on Freeman Street and park before Craig Place. One of the cars had a rejection sticker. At 3:10 a.m., the officer reportedly saw several people get into the vehicle and head down Babcock Street from Freeman Street. The officer pulled the vehicle over and told the driver that he pulled him over because of the sticker. Investigators are looking into the possible involvement of the accused Boston Marathon bombers in the 2011 triple homicide in Waltham.
Authorities have amassed evidence indicating accused Boston Marathon bombers Tamerlan and Dzhokar Tsarnaev possibly killed three men in a Waltham home in 2011, according to ABC News. Investigators have "mounting evidence" including forensics pointing toward the Tsarnaev brothers," says ABC. Tamerlan was killed in an April 19 shootout with police in Watertown and Dzhorkar was later captured hiding in a boat in Watertown. After the April 15 bombings, federal and state authorities began investigating the brothers' possible link to the murders after learning Tamerlan was a close friend of one of the victims, Brendan Mess. At 8:17 p.m. on May 1, a Trader Joe’s employee told police that they witnessed a woman shoplift from the store, then get on a Green Line Train headed towards Cleveland Circle. Officers stopped the train at Summit Avenue and located the suspect who matched the provided description. The suspect told officers that she had dropped the merchandise outside of the store. The employee said that they and another worker chased the woman through the parking lot, yelling at her to stop. They had witnessed her put items in her black purse and leave the store without paying. The suspect had a bottle of Patron Tequila, four Angus Steaks, two Angus Ribs and three Boneless Ribeye steaks.
