Peterson runs well in RIT opener

Mike Peterson was solid for the RIT men's cross country team over the weekend.

RIT kicked off the season with a trip to the Houghton Invitational. The Tigers placed second out of six teams with a total of 57 points.

Peterson placed second for RIT and ninth overall. The junior finished the 5k course in a time of 16:50.07.

The Tigers return to action next Saturday, September 15, as they compete at the University of Rochester Invitational at Genesee Valley Park, beginning at 12 a.m.

Area Residents Make the Spring 2012 Dean's List at UMass Boston

The following local residents were among the close to 3,000 students from the University of Massachusetts Boston who made the Spring 2012 Dean's List:

UMass Boston has an undergraduate enrollment of more than 11,000 students and offers degrees in dozens of academic majors. UMass was one of 150 colleges and universities nationwide to be named a "Best Value College" by the Princeton Review.
