10 Programs For Adults @ Library This December

Take the family to see programs about Christmas, Sharks, Pirates & Coast Guard Rescues! Then relax with a Stress Management Class & enjoy our Dinner & A Movies!

A VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS: Tuesday, December 4, 7pm

Actress Anne Barrett invites all to gather ‘round as Victoria Yule entertains in her parlor, telling all about her Christmas plans for 1895.  She’ll sing songs, tell stories and show the treats, ornaments and presents that will make it a special celebration.  Along the way, she’ll share the history and traditions of the festive holiday season.  Register HERE.  


Shark expert Tom King will present an illustrated program on shark species found in New England waters.  He’ll discuss what time of year sharks can be found in certain areas while sharing many photos.  A Q&A period will conclude the presentation.  Register HERE.

CHRISTMAS TRADITIONS & MEMORIES: Tuesday, December 11, 7pm

Dave Downs – “Best Exhibitor” as the New England History festival – explores fascinating topics surrounding Christmas.  (Why was it against the law to celebrate Christmas during early colonial times?)  Visit the past with Dave as he recounts his favorite personal holiday memories; step back in time when Christmas trees only cost $2.00; and sing along to some Christmas carols while Dave strums on his ukulele!  Register HERE.

DINNER & A MOVIE - HOPE SPRINGS: Friday, December 14, 7pm

Enjoy a free dinner and a movie on Friday nights at the Tewksbury Public Library!  This week’s movie is Hope Springs (PG-13), a romantic comedy featuring Meryl Streep, Tommy Lee Jones and Steve Carell.  Register HERE.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL: Tuesday, December 18, 7pm

The Christmas season comes alive with the Delvena Theatre Company’s production of the beloved story of “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens.  Enjoy this dramatic reading, complete with period costumes, featuring a narrator and two actors with more than sixty years of experience among them.  Register HERE.

REDUCE YOUR HOLIDAY STRESS: Wednesday, December 19, 7pm

THE COAST GUARD OF MASSACHUSETTS: Thursday, December 20, 7pm

John Galluzzo – one of the country’s leading U.S. Coast Guard historians and author of “The Coast Guard in Massachusetts” – explores the Coast Guard’s deep roots in this state.  The Coast Guard has protected the Bay State coastline during numerous ways, performing some of the most dramatic rescues in American history, from the Pendleton to the Argo Merchant to the Etrusco.  The story of the Coast Guard in Massachusetts is one of heroism, honor, respect and devotion to duty.  Register HERE


Popular New England folklorist John Horrigan will take you on a cruise from the Golden Age of Piracy through the contemporary pirates who lurk off the coast of Somalia today.  You’ll learn about the Pirate Code, pirate myths, buried treasure, pirates in pop culture, and many notorious pirates.  Register HERE

DINNER & A MOVIE - TROUBLE WITH THE CURVE: Friday, December 28, 7pm

Enjoy a free dinner and a movie on Friday nights at the Tewksbury Public Library!  This week’s movie is Trouble with the Curve (PG-13), a baseball drama featuring Clint Eastwood, Amy Adams and Justin Timberlake.  Register HERE
