A former Massachusetts Governor took not only his state, but the town of Brookline during the .
According to the unofficial results on the town of Brookline website, Governor Mitt Romney received 1,247 of the 1,735 votes cast for him in Brookline. Coming in second, Texas Senator Ron Paul pulled in 206 votes, with Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum in third with 141 votes.
On the Democratic side, President Barack Obama was the only candidate on the ballot, and he took in 1,485 of the 1,607 votes cast. 25 votes were cast for write-in candidates. For Green Party voters, of which there were 19, Jill Stein was the clear winner with 14 of the votes.
Michael Burstein, Patch columnist and library trustee (who is currently exploring a senate run) reported the polls being empty, and he and his wife Nomi were voters 18 and 19 when they went in before 9 a.m. The polls opened at 7 a.m. yesterday.
