Online Payments, E-mail Digests and More on BrookOnLine

Parking tickets, school lunches and real estate taxes are just some of the payment options for the online system.

If you try to pay your debts to society only to find a shuttered parking ticket window at the , there is an alternative: go online.

The Town Website, Brooklinema.gov,  and opened the door for the , which is divided into three sections: Information, Notify and Payments.

The online Payment section of the site has a number of options for payment: school lunches, water/sewer, parking tickets and excise taxes to name just a few. Should the need arise, you can also order copies of birth, marriage and death certificates online.

Under Notify, the town's system for "Citizen reporting," a system that allows eagle-eyed citizens to report potholes, broken parking meters, , and a number of other things. A service similar to the .

You can sign up for the new Daily Digest under Information. A daily e-mail of town events you are interested in, whether it's the meeting announcements, , or social media posts--such as the Brookline Police Twitter account and the Recreation Department's Facebook page, without signing up for either service.

[Update: While the online payment system is convenient, it may not be free. For parking tickets, at least, there may be fees associated. Twitter user @Dfernald reports there is a fee, which he believes is around $2.  3:35 p.m.]
