Wedding bells were ringing in Newton yesterday as local Congressman Barney Frank married longtime partner Jim Ready at the .
According to an Associated Press report, more than 300 friends, family members and colleagues attended the ceremony, which was officiated by Governor Deval Patrick.
Ready, 42, owns a small business for carpentry, painting and other "general handyman" services, according to the AP. The Ogunquit, Maine resident also works as a photographer.
During his tenure as a congressman, Frank has worked as a top-ranking member and former chairman of the House Financial Services Committee. However, following , Frank announced late last year after more than 30 years .
During a press conference held in November, Frank said he plans to spend his retirement in both Newton and Maine.
Since his announcement to retire, a number of politicians have jumped at the chance to replace the well-known Democrat including Brookline resident and Democrat and Brookline Republican , as well as Fall River Republican , , LaRouche Democrat and Newton Democrat .
