Rumors of the Paul Ryan pick were swirling late Friday night before Mitt Romney's official press conference on Saturday morning, but the story behind the pick plays out a little like a spy movie.
On Aug. 5, Huffington Post reports, Paul Ryan disguised himself in a baseball cap and sunglasses, and set off for New England. He was met at the airport by the son of , who collected the Congressman in a rented SUV.
Ryan had lunch with Myers, her family, and others for a short while before Romney showed up and discussed the vice presidential pick with Ryan. They then went their separate ways and said nothing for the following week.
Local press have been camped outside of Ryan's Home, but he managed to elude them and escape to Norfolk, Virginia for the announcement. ABC also reports he used body doubles watching media from his second story window.
He joked with reporters afterwards. CNN reports him saying "I just went out my back door, went through the gully in the woods I grew up playing in. I walked past the fort I built back there."
