Beverly Scott of Atlanta Tapped as First African-American Woman to Lead MBTA

Beverly Scott comes to Boston from managing Atlanta's transit system, MARTA.

The long-vacant job of MBTA general manager has finally been filled. Transportation officials chose Beverly Scott, CEO of the Atlanta transit system.

Scott will be the first African-American woman to lead the MBTA, according to the Boston Globe. Her salary will be $220,000, according to Steve Annear of BostonInno.

Scott faces many challenges at her new post, including finding long-term solutions to the MBTA's debt problems.
