Two Beacon Street Buidlings Evacuated After Earthquake

Brookline feels the effects of a magnitude 5.8 earthquake in the DC area. Town evacuates 1101 and 1180 Beacon Street, pending building inspection.

Police and Fire Departments evacuated the high-rises at 1101 and 1180 Beacon Street after the  before 2 p.m. this afternoon. Patch contributor Stephen Walsh reports that 1180 Beacon Street has a 9-foot crack in the foundation, and structural column damage in 1101 Beacon's parking garage.

A number of Brookline twitter users reported feeling the earthquake, dubbed "#hubquake" by the social media community.
