Two-Alarm Fire in 600 Block of Washington Street

Washington St. is closed from Beacon to Cypress, will impact morning commute.

 

An early morning fire in the 600 block of Washington Street quickly went to two alarms just after 4 a.m. Thursday morning. 

The fire at 669 Washington St., is reported to have started in the basement and extended to the first floor, with firefighters chasing the fire through the walls.

The fire has forced officials to close Washington Street from Beacon Street to Cypress Street. This will have an impact on the morning commute. 

Brookline Police say a shelter has been opened at the Senior Center on Winchester Street for those displaced by the fire.
