Police: Dorchester Man Charged with Drug Possession in Broken Down Car

The following information was supplied by the Brookline Police Department. Charges listed do not indicate convictions. 

Brookline Police arrested an alleged drug dealer in a broken down car on July 5. 

Brookline Police Officers saw a maroon Ford Taurus broken down in the crosswalk of at Washington and Park Street at about 5:40 a.m. on July 5. The rear of the vehicle was in the traveling lane on Washington Street, causing other cars to slow down and drive around it.  A second car had pulled over to offer assistance.

Officers turned on their rear blue lights to alert oncoming traffic, got out of the cruiser and approached the two cars. They saw a man, identified as Markeese Skinner, sleeping in the front passenger seat of the Taurus.

A man and a woman were trying to jump start the Taurus to no avail. The woman said that she was driving when the car broke down. The driver told police that she thought the car ran out of gas.

The driver of aiding car offered go get gas and went to the nearest station. The officer ran the information for the Taurus and saw that it was registered to a rental company in Marlborough, MA. According to the report, the driver looked confused and told the officer that the car was not a rental.

Officers asked each party whom the car belonged to. None of the people on scene could answer that question.

According to the report, officers woke up Skinner, who began shouting and cursing. The officer asked if he knew who owned that, to which Skinner replied, “My people, man.” When officers asked again, Skinner said that the car belonged to his brother.

Officers eventually had the vehicle towed after they were shown the rental agreement and saw a name that did not match any of the parties on scene. 

Officers asked Skinner to get out of the car, and suspected that he was intoxicated. Police frisked Skinner and found a box cutter in one pocket and a small bag of marijuana in the other. During the search, Skinner acted aggressive enough for officers to place in him handcuffs.

During a search of the car, officers found an open bottle of Patron Tequila and a black plastic bag containing a large amount of jewelry, including necklaces, bracelets and rings with the price tags on them near Skinner was seated.

Police also found several plastic bags in the trunk with contained 11 cell phones, various papers, a trigger lock for a handgun and a Massachusetts driver’s license with someone else’s information.

Officers also found five pills in a white sock. Two were identified as Percocet and three were identified as oxycodone.

Skinner, 25, of 29 Southern Avenue, Dorchester was charged with disorderly conduct, possession of a Class B substance with intent to distribute, possession of a stolen Massachusetts identification and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
