Police Charge Man with Breaking into St. Mary's, Stealing Car and Computers

The following information was supplied by the Brookline Police Department. Charges listed do not indicate convictions.

Police arrested a Dorchester man charged with breaking and entering into St. Mary’s of the Assumption at 5 Linden Street in Brookline on Sunday, August 18. The man was also charged with stealing a laptop, an iPod and a car belonging to the church. Officers were able to charge the man after finding his fingerprints on a candy dish.

According to police, Gerald Cribbie broke into the church by cutting holes into the window of the laundry room. The suspect took the laptop and iPod and took off in a van with “St. Mary’s Church” written on the side. Officers found the car in Dedham with the hood still warm on Sunday, August 18.

Cribbie was spotted by a Dedham police officer and was charged with breaking and entering at nighttime with intent to commit a felony, larceny from a building, larceny of a motor vehicle and an outstanding warrant.
