A woman was charged with throwing a cup of coffee in the face of a patient at the HRI Hospital.

Brookline Police responded to a report of an assault and battery at the HRI Hospital at 227 Babcock Street at about 10:58 a.m. on July 11.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the hospital staff members, who witnessed a patient throw a cup of hot coffee in the face of another patient.

An argument broke out between two patients in the cafeteria. The suspect told police that she threw soda in the face of the victim, not coffee. A doctor evaluated the victim and treated her with an icepack for first degree burns. Her injuries consisted of an abrasion on her upper right cheek and redness on the left side of her face and upper chest/neck area.
