UPDATED: Newton Woman Remains in ICU After Cherry Street Crash

The incident happened in the 150 block of Cherry Street.

As of Tuesday, Nov. 20, Newton Police do not have any major developments in the crash and the incident remains under investigation.

According to Newton Police Lt. Bruce Apotheker, the woman who was involved with the crash remains in the hospital. Police could not comment on her current condition.

 

Updated 3:53 p.m. with additional information from Newton Police:

A 24-year-old Newton resident remains in the intensive care unit at Mass General Hospital following a motor vehicle accident on Cherry Street in Newton Thursday night, police said.

According to Newton Police Lt. Bruce Apotheker, the crash happened in the 150 block of Cherry Street around 6:45 p.m. Thursday and involved a car hitting a parked vehicle. 

Apotheker said the driver, a 24-year-old Newton woman, was traveling southbound on Cherry Street in her Mercedes when she struck a parked Honda.

The female was alone in the vehicle, Apotheker said, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Newton Police reported around noon Friday the driver was in the ICU. As of 3:45 p.m., police did not have an update on the driver's condition.

One person remains in the intensive care unit at an area hospital following a motor vehicle accident on Cherry Street in Newton Thursday night. 

According to Newton Police Lt. Bruce Apotheker, the crash happened in the 150 block of Cherry Street and involved a car hitting a parked vehicle. 

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, Apotheker said.

According to scanner reports, the incident happened around 6:45 p.m. 

Police could not give details as to the identity of the person injured nor the hospital to which he/she was transported.
