March Car Chase Driver Crashes Replacement Vehicle at Allston Dealership

A man who led police on a multi-town car chase in March was arrested again this morning after crashing a car at an Allston dealership, according Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel Conley.

Ender Durgut, 39, of Brookline, was arraigned in Brighton District Court today on charges of larceny of a motor vehicle, malicious destruction of property, assault with a dangerous weapon and disorderly conduct. 

Durgut was held on $5,000 cash bail and ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation at Bridgewater State Hospital. Judge David T. Donnelly also revoked Durgut's bail in a case out of tied to the March 27 car chase.

During that chase, , where State Police attempted to stop Durgut's car with "stop sticks." Durgut, who was driving a black Toyota Venza at the time, avoided the stop sticks but eventually crashed into a State Police trooper cruiser. He then lost a front wheel and hit a Brookline Police cruiser before stopping on a nearby grass patch, where the car caught fire.

According to the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office, Durgut visited the Allston Herb Chambers Toyota dealership this morning around 10:30 a.m. and asked about purchasing a replacement vehicle for the one he crashed in March.

While looking through the vehicles, Durgut allegedly entered a Venza and drove it into a nearby Prius as well as a desk. The car eventually came to rest against a showroom wall.

Witnesses told police that an employee who was six-months pregnant was located on the other side of that showroom wall.

According to reports, Durgut continued to rev the engine, as if he was attempting to drive through the showroom wall, until an employee was able to turn off the vehicle. Durgut then walked out of the dealership and was apprehended by police a short time later on Commonwealth Avenue.

Durgut is represented in his new case by attorney William Concannon, the DA's office said. He is scheduled to return to court on May 21.
