When the officer asked for the driver’s registration, the driver handed the officer several pieces of paper that were not the registration. Finally, the officer had to point out which piece of paper was the registration. At this point, the officer could smell an odor of alcohol and the driver said that he had not been drinking.

Taking into account that the driver was fumbling for his registration, his eyes were bloodshot/glossy, the odor of alcohol and the driving behavior, the officer decided that the driver was intoxicated and called in a field sobriety test. After the test, officers arrested Ilya Koshcheyev, 48, of 1461 VFW Parkway, West Roxbury, and charged him with OUI-alcohol and failing to stop for a red light.
