Dorchester man Charged with Breaking Into Vehicle on Clinton Street

While facing west on Clinton Street at 2:57 a.m. on February 7, an officer observed a man trying to conceal himself behind a tree. When the officer asked what he was doing, the man replied, “I’m looking for a girl down here in Fidelis.” The man was referring to Fidelis Way, which is a housing complex in Brighton, which he was heading in the opposite direction of.

The suspect reportedly seemed nervous, looking around and not making eye contact with the officer. The suspect had a bag of quarters in his pocket, which he claimed he earned by begging in front of a store. When asked which one, the suspect couldn’t answer. Officers frisked the man and found an iPod, which he claimed was a gift. When the officer checked the “Settings Function,” the owner’s name appeared.

Officers checked the area to see if any vehicles had been broken into while they tried to contact the owner. Once the owner was contacted, they went to see if the cars in his driveway were broken into. The owner confirmed that someone had been in his vehicle. The owner stated that he had left his vehicle unlocked when he parked it around midnight.

Samuel Decosta, 36, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with larceny from a vehicle, $250 or more.
