Details Emerge in Sunday Riverway Stabbing

The BPD issued a statement on today's stabbing in the Fens.

Sunday's Riverway stabbing came at the tail end of a robbery, according to a statement by the Boston Police.

A 49-year-old man was near Longwood Avenue and the Riverway on Sunday afternoon. According to a Boston Police statement, officers found the victim shortly after fielding calls about the attack at 12:24 p.m. 

"On arrival, officers located the 49 year old, male victim, who stated he was sitting on the logs listening to music and feeding the ducks when he was approached by the suspect," wrote police on the BPDnews.com blog. "The victim stated the suspect demanded his iPhone and stated, 'Give me your money and phone.'"

When the victim refused to surrender his posessions, the suspect stabbed him with a small knife. The injured man was transported to Brigham and Women's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

According to police, the suspect is a white male, in his 30s, with a medium build. Anyone with information can call District B-2 detectives at 617- 343-4275.
