Brookline Police Log: Four Alleged Drunk Drivers

The following incident report is based on Brookline Police Department dispatch logs for Nov. 2 through 4. Look for weekday incident reports twice a week, and arrest logs each Tuesday on Brookline Patch. Suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

• 1470 Beacon Street, Friday at about 7:30 a.m., report of a breaking-and-entering and larceny.
• A park citation was issued following a report of a larceny incident at about 9 p.m. on Friday. 
• A Beacon Street woman reported Friday Morning that someone had broken into her apartment and stolen her laptop from the apartment, which had been left inside. Nothing else was taken from the scene. 
• The front license plate from a vehicle parked on Chapel Street was reportedly taken off of the car some time between noon on Wednesday and midnight on Saturday.
• A man said he stood outside of a locker room on Longwood Avenue, with the locker open, and returned to find personal items missing, just around 1:15 p.m. 20 minutes later, fraudulent charges were made to his account.
• Between 2:45 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, a man said that his phone was taken out of his gym bag while he was attending track practice. It was unsecured and in a locker room.
• A woman attempted to leave the CVS on Beacon Street with stolen items, about 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. She was summonsed to court and ordered not to return.
• 2:15 p.m. on Commonwealth Avenue, Saturday afternoon, a report of a shoplifting. Police were able to find the suspect with stolen jackets inside his bag, and arrested and charged him with larceny.
• A woman was buying toys from a shop on Boylston Street, and put her wallet down on a rack of puzzles. When she returned later, she found her wallet was missing between 4 p.m. and 4:33 p.m. Police advised her to cancel the cards.
• 6 p.m. on Sunday from TJ Maxx, larceny of a vehicle reported. Logs indicate it was found in front of the Starbucks on Harvard Street.

• A driver was pulling into a Longwood Avenue driveway when he almost hit a passing woman, about 12:45 p.m. on Saturday. The two groups got into a physical fight. The driver and passenger were arrested. The driver was charged with driving under the influence of liquir, failing to use care while turning, and assault with a dangerous weapon; the passenger assault and battery with a Dangerous Weapon, assaulting a police officer, and resisting arrest.
• 11 p.m. Friday evening, police were informed of an erratic driver on Washington Street and Boylston Street. When they pulled the driver over for questioning, they determined the vehicle was being driven under the influence of alcohol. They arrested and charged the driver accordingly.
• Vehicle on fire reported at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, at the Lee Street and Dudley Way intersection.
• A car parked was parked in the right travel lane of Beacon Street at about 4:45 p.m. on Sunday, and when police arrived on the scene, they had to wake the driver and escort him out of the car. His eyes appeared to be blooshot, and his speech slurred. He was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of liquor and impeding the free flow of traffic. 
• Two cars were pulled over, broken glass in the roadway around them, at the Dean Road and Beaconsfield Road intersection on Sunday, about 6:45 p.m. The victim vehicle was hit from behind, and reported that the driver seemed to be talking slowly--he was concerned something was wrong with the other driver. The other driver was unsteady on his feet, slow to speak, and ultimately placed under arrest for operating under the influence of alcohol, following too closely and a marked lanes violation.

• Bat call reported at 12:15 a.m. on Friday morning at 114 Chestnut Road. 

• Police took a report of a past assault-and-battery incident at about 12:30 a.m. on Friday. 
• Police had a noise complaint at the top of Summit Avenue before 7 a.m., where a group of runners were meeting every Friday morning to run up and down the street. Residents have complained, and the group organizer was issued a bylaw citation.
• 1:15 p.m. a sexual assault incident was reported at 165 Chestnut Street.
