Brookline Police Log: June 15 - 17

The following incident report is based on dispatch logs for June 15 through 17. Look for weekday incident reports twice a week, and arrest logs each Tuesday on Brookline Patch. Suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

• 850 Boylston Street reported a larceny before 9 a.m. on Friday.
• A caller from 61 Park Street recorded a larceny incident at about 11 a.m. Friday. 
• Report of a larceny called in from 178 Thorndike Street on Friday, at 11:30 a.m.
• Police take a report of breaking-and-entering at 12:45 p.m. on Friday, 111 Boylston Street. 
• A TJ Maxx employee said that he saw a woman take items from a shelf, then attempt to return them without actually buying them first. Police also learned she had two outstanding warrants for her arrest. She was placed under arrest and charged for Shoplifting and those two warrants.
• Theft reported at 57 Laurel Road, 9 a.m. Sunday.
• A caller from 185 Freeman Street reported threats at about 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
• Before 4 p.m. Sunday, 61 Park Street reported a theft. 
• A Greenough Street woman who owned a motor scooter reported that she had parked the scooter in fron of the building at 5 p.m. Sunday, when she returned before 11 p.m., the unlocked scooter was missing.

• Early Saturday morning, An officer patrolling the Carlton Street area saw a vehicle taking a right onto Mountfort street, despite passing the one-way sign. The officer says he had to swerve out of the way to avoid a head-on collision. After pulling over the green Acura, the driver claimed it was not a one-way street. The officer also asked the driver if he was wearing his sunglasses at night because of light sensitivity, which the driver said was not the case. While fumbling for papers, the officer reports he could smell alcohol on the man's breath, and that after removing the glasses, the driver appeared to have glassy and bloodshot eyes. He gave a license with a different name on it, and during booking, officers learned his real name. He was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, driving after a suspension, giving a false name, failing to submit his car for inspection, and violating a one-way street sign. 
• Police assisted with a road rage incident at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Ryan Circle. 
• Hit-and-run reported on Lawton Street at about noon. Drivers exchanged information after the incident.
• A caller reported gunshots at about 9 p.m. Sunday night, although when police arrived at 125 Pleasant Street they did not find anything.

• A caller at 345 Harvard Street reported graffiti at about 2 p.m. on Friday
• A Holly Lane resident reported leaf blower noise at about 2:30 p.m. Friday. .
• 15 Beaconsfield Street reported a graffiti complaint at about 5:30 p.m. Friday. 
• A woman reported that her roommate had returned home at about 11 p.m. Saturday, and then an argument over whose turn it was to clean the apartment ensued. During the argument, the roommate threw a glass in the victim's direction, which broke and shattered a blender. She was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday. The roommate does not intend to pursue a restraining order, and told police she will be moving out of the apartment.
• Brookline police were patrolling the Muddy River, which is closed after dark, at about 1:45 a.m. Sunday. They discovered a man lying on the grass at the river's edge. They queried his information and learned that he had outstanding warrants from Boston court for shoplifting and assault-and-battery. He was arrested and charged on those warrants.
