Brookline Police Arrest Driver Out with Learner's Permit

Below are the most recent excerpts from the Brookline police log:

On May 6, officers were dispatched to Longwood Ave. for a report of a breaking and entering of a motor vehicle that had just occurred. The reporting party stated that he had gone to let his dog out when he noticed a male subject walking away from his vehicle and that his vehicle’s interior lights were on. The victim went to his car and observed that the glove box and center console were open. The matter is under investigation.

On May 6, an officer responded to a call of traffic cones and signs in the roadway on Dean Rd. from Chestnuthill Ave. to Fisher Avenue. The officer moved these objects to the side of the road and continued on Dean Rd. where she observed three white ornamental fence tops in the middle of the road. The officer noticed a nearby fence had sustained a lot of damage and was able to later speak with the owner. At this time, another call for malicious damage came in. The officer responded to another address on Dean Rd. where the reporting party showed that her side gate had been damaged and tulips had been ripped from her garden. An investigation is occurring.

On May 6, an officer was dispatched to Beacon St. for a larceny report. The victim stated that his bicycle had been locked to a sign pole on Beacon St. and was now gone. The matter is under investigation.

On May 6, an officer observed a vehicle travelling with an expired inspection sticker and initiated a traffic stop in the area of Harvard Street and Marion Street. The officer found that the driver had an expired license and was operating with a learner’s permit. The driver was placed under arrest.

On May 6, officers were dispatched to Eliot St. for a breaking and entering. The reporting parties stated that they had noticed that the extra lock on the back door was not locked and one of the small windows in the door had been broken. Officers observed that little was disturbed in the house and the residents stated that only cash was missing. The matter is under investigation.
