Brookline Man Found With Gun Cache Faces 39 Gun Charges

Brookline Police released a list of charges against Richard Becker, the man arrested Monday for possession of unlicensed weapons.

Monday evening, arrested Richard Becker, 55, of 181 Harvard Street. The Brookline resident was brought into Beth Israel hospital and held overnight, after he collapsed and requested medical attention when officers served a search warrant for his home. Police released a photo and list of charges earlier today.

Becker is charged with 11 counts of possession of a large-capacity rifle, 10 counts of possession of a large-capacity firearm, one count of possession of a rifle, and 14 counts of possession of a firearm, as well as the two counts of possession of a silencer and possession of one large-capacity feeding device--i.e., magazines which can hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition. 

Police say that he was brought into the Police Station today for booking, but was brought in too late to be arraigned at . The arraignment is expected for tomorrow.

Chief of Police Daniel O'Leary , informing them that they had initially become aware of Becker after a well-being check, and then learned he had two outstanding warrants for failing to report for jury duty in Quincy. 

YourTown Brookline also reports that Becker's father, who owns the property at 181 Harvard Street, owes the town about $160,000 in unpaid taxes. Brookline's Financial Director Stephen Cirillo told YourTown that the town will sieze the property if these taxes remain unpaid by August 2.
