Brookline Man Charged with Smothering Dog to Death

Brookline police on Wednesday said they arrested a man for allegedly smothering a dog to death.

William Kinsella, 24, of Risley Road, Brookline, was charged with animal cruelty. He was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.

Police said they launched an investigation after receiving information from the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. He was arrested Wednesday afternoon at his home without incident, police said.

Police did not release further details.
