Brookline High School Employee Charged with Possession of Child Pornography

Superintendent: Benjamin Schwartz was already on leave for an unrelated matter.

Benjamin Schwartz, 32, of Brookline was charged with possession of child pornography and dissemination of obscene material on Thursday.

Schwartz has worked at Brookline High School for the last 10 years as a special education  paraprofessional.

“Mr. Schwartz was on leave when this occurred,” Superintendent Bill Lupini said. "He was on a family medical leave since Oct. 1 for issues totally unrelated to this instance.”

“He won’t be returning (to work at Brookline High School) until we have enough appropriate information to make a decision,” Mr. Lupini said. “When we think we have appropriate information, we will take appropriate action. We have no complaints on record against this employee by any students at this time.”

Schwartz will be arraigned today in Brookline Municipal Court. Superintendent Lupini said that his office will release a statement this afternoon.
