Newton Police say a Natick woman left the scene of an accident Monday morning that resulted in serious injuries to a 55-year-old bicyclist.
According to police, a Brookline man was riding west on Beacon Street early Monday morning when a woman driving a Honda CRV turned left from Beacon onto Grant Avenue, causing the bicyclist to crash into her vehicle.
An off-duty Watertown Police officer witnessed the crash, as did another individual, and called for assistance. According to Newton Officer Eric Rosenbaum, the driver left the scene, but was later located and cited for leaving the scene of a personal injury crash and failure to yield.
The bicyclist, Rosenbaum said, sustained some internal injuries and broken ribs and was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. His condition is unknown, but his injuries were not considered life-threatening.
