Operating under the influence – Boston man Willie Philips, aged 29. Brookline police received a hang-up 911 call at about 1 a.m., and were able to get the caller on the phone. He reported that a man was at his door, and he had told the man to wait while he called the police--when the caller returned, the man had left. As they arrived, officers saw a vehicle parked outside of a nearby home, with its lights on. When police interviewed the caller, he reported that this man had come to his front door and asked to use his phone because someone had stolen his jeep. Police began to canvas the area when the illuminated car nearby pulled out to drive away, which is when officers pulled him over. Officers say he matched the description from the 911 caller, and identified him as Phillips. When they spoke to him, officers say they smelled a slight odor of alcohol and saw that Phillips had glassy eyes. He told officers he was returning home from his girlfriend's house, and that he didn't know the owners of the home he was parked in front of. The caller positively identified Phillips as the man who had come to his door. After determining that he was under the influence of alcohol, police arrested and charged him with operating under the influence.
