Brookline Arrest Log: Return your UHaul, Is That Whiskey in Your Pants, or...?

The following information was supplied by Brookline Police Dept. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following arrest report is based on Brookline Police Department reports for Oct. 1 through 4. Look for weekday incident reports each Saturday, weekend reports each Monday, and arrest logs each Tuesday on Brookline Patch. Suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

Monday, Oct. 1
  • Warrant arrest – 33-year-old Darrel Hervey, Dorchester man. At around 2:30 a.m., police in the Harvard Street/Lawton Street area reportedly saw a man walking by with a dark blue tote bag. They were watching the area because of a number of car breaks in recent weeks. When they searched his bag, they located four cell phones. He told police that the iPhone in his collection was his girlfriends, and he had purchased the rest at a dollar store. Police ran his information and learned that he had an outstanding warrant from Waltham District Court, and placed Hervey under arrest for that warrant.
Wednesday, Oct. 3
  • Receiving a stolen motor vehicle – Randolph man, Jeffrey Wilson, aged 29. At about 11:45 p.m., police traveling along Route 9 near Hammond Street saw a UHaul van making a right turn on a green arrow. When officers ran the UHaul's plate, they learned that the vehicle had been reported stolen from the Brockton UHaul location on Sept. 30. According to the statement, the van was due back at 11:30 p.m. on August 2. He told police that he had renewed the vehicle rental with UHaul, but did not provide officers with paperwork. He was arrested and charged with receiving a stolen vehicle, and a red light violation.
Thursday, Oct. 4
  • Shoplifting – Dorchester man Robert Cooper, 26. Bay State Liquors reported a shoplifting incident on their premises, and an officer caught up to him. Employees reported he had two bottles of Johnny Walker stuffed into his pants--he had tried to buy a third on an EBT card, which was declined. Cooper was arrested and charged with shoplifting, at about 2 p.m.
