Brookline Arrest Log: More than One Way Off a Tow Truck

The following arrest report is based on Brookline Police Department reports for Sept. 14 through 16. Look for weekday incident reports each Saturday, weekend reports each Monday, and arrest logs each Tuesday on Brookline Patch. Suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

• Assault-and-battery with a dangerous weapon – A 65-year-old Belmont man, Mavrik Ohanjanyan. At about 3:15 p.m., police were dispatched to a tow truck dispute in the Circle Cinema parking lot, where there are a number of 'No Parking' signs. Police identified Ohanjanyan, who they say was uncooperative and initially refused to answer questions. When officers did get him to speak, he reported that he had parked in the lot for just a few minutes while he ran some papers into a nearby insurance company, and when he returned, the vehicle was being lifted onto a tow truck.
  The tow truck operator refused to return the vehicle, unless Ohanjanyan paid a 'drop fee.' This is when, the operator reports, that Ohanjanyan got into his van and started to drive off--damaging the tow truck. Because of the flow of traffic, the van was stuck in the parking lot. As the tow operator was trying to take a picture of the van to get its registration, the van began to drive forward, hitting the tow operator. EMS responded to the scene to take the tow truck driver to the hospital, but he insisted on driving himself there. Police arrested and charged Ohanjanyan with assault-and-battery with a dangerous weapon--the van, malicious destruction of property--the tow mechanism on the truck, and disorderly conduct.  

• Warrant arrest – Morris Robertson, 41, originally of Boston. Police responded to Bournewood Hospital where, where they intended to take custody of Robertson due to some outstanding warrants. He was arrested and charged on two outstanding warrants for assault-and-battery with a dangerous weapon, two warrants for assault-and-battery of a public employee, and attempting to commit a crime.
