2-Alarm Fire at 205 Kent Street

A basement fire broke out on Kent Street.

Brookline Fire Department responded to reports of a 2-alarm fire at 205 Kentwood Manor on Kent Street at around 3 p.m.. Boston, Cambridge and Brookline fire engines responded.

“The fire started in the bathroom of the basement unit,” Brookline Fire Chief Ron Nelson said. “It went up to the second floor. It took a little while to find it in the walls, but the guys got it knocked down quickly.”

The cause of the fire is still unknown. Nelson estimated that the cost of damage is about $150,000. No injuries were reported.

Residents of the 6 to 10 unit apartment building were taken to the Lawrence School where CERT teams prepared shelter for them.
