This summer’s biggest book bestsellers and their ripple effects have taken readers through many twists and turns. 

The biggest book news so far has proven to be quite Sherlockian—Robert Galbraith is actually a pen name used for J.K. Rowling’s new book, The Cuckoo’s Calling, which has recently shot to #1 on the U.S best-seller’s list.

Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg sparked a (literal) movement, beckoning women to Lean In with their careers, and author Cassandra Clare’s August film adaption of the wildly popular YA series, The Mortal Instruments, will have to tide young and old fans alike until the sixth book, City of Heavenly Fire, is released in 2014.

That being said, there are plenty of good reads to celebrate with onBook Lover’s Day, August 9.

Peruse the AmazonPublisher’s Weekly and NYTimes Bestseller lists of 2013 (so far) for some contemporary literature—including the oldie but timeless goodie, The Great Gatsby.
