Brookline Resident is Assistant Musical Director for Footloose: The Musical At Berklee Performance Center November 21 & 22

Berklee’s Musical Theater Club presents Footloose: The Musical, based on the hit 1984 movie that made Kevin Bacon a star and featured chart-topping songs including “Let’s Hear it for the Boy,” “Almost Paradise,” “Holding Out for a Hero,” and the title track. The Musical Theater Club is presenting the stage adaptation of Footloose for the first time, having also staged successful productions of Hairspray and Rent in recent years.

Footloose: The Musical takes place Thursday, November 21 and Friday, November 22, 7:00 p.m., at the Berklee Performance Center (BPC), 136 Massachusetts Avenue, Boston, MA. Reserved seating tickets are on sale now for $8 and $14 in advance, $12 and $18 day of show at berklee.edu/bpc. The venue is wheelchair accessible. Students leading the 22-member cast and 13-piece pit orchestra include director/choreographer Tre’von Griffith, musical director Max Wolpert and assistant musical directors Patrick Hoagland, a resident of Brookline, MA, and Jake Ohlbaum. “Footloose was chosen this year because it is an upbeat pop musical that dives into the great ‘80’s music that we all love,” said Sydney Dorin, president of Berklee’s Musical Theater Club. “The audience won’t be able to resist getting up and dancing!” The Musical Theater Club has 200 members each year, with more than 100 students currently working on four different upcoming productions.

Footloose: The Musical was originally produced on Broadway in 1998 and nominated for four Tony Awards the following year, including Best Original Score for music by Berklee alumnus Tom Snow. Snow was also nominated for a Grammy Award for the Footloose Cast Album, and an Academy Award for Best Song from a Motion Picture (“Let’s Hear it for the Boy”).
