This month’s look is a fabulous fishtail braid; an easy, quick style that can be dressed up or down. Perfect for a lazy Saturday when you don’t want to wash your hair, but just polished enough to look elegant with any cocktail dress! We’ll show you how to do the basic fishtail braid, and then give you some suggestions to dress it up.

The tools you will need for this look are:

  • A hair elastic
  • A light hairspray
  • Molding wax

Start by pulling all of your hair to one side of your head. Take a small amount of molding wax and heat up in your palms. (Lisa F of our Danvers location recommendsFramesi’s BY Volcanic Wax).  Work through your hair, smoothing out the top and preparing the rest for a flexible hold.

Separate your hair into two equal sections.

Take a small piece of hair (around one inch thick) from the back of the right side, then cross it over the front and bring it into the left side. Then take another small piece of hair from the back of the left side, cross it over the front & bring it to the right side. This should start to create an “x” pattern in your hair. Continue doing this until you are at the end of your hair – secure with an elastic.

Once complete, spray all over with a light hairspray (Lisa reccomends Framesi’s BY light mist hairspray).

For a trendier, fun look, loosen up the braid a little by tugging it apart a bit, and let some pieces fall out. For a night out, pull a few pieces out around the front of your face, and curl them. Fishtail braids provide a great “blank slate” for all different kinds of hair accessories, like bows, pins & headbands, so play around & have fun!

Lisa F has been working with Dellaria for the past seven years at the location in Danvers. Danvers, one of the original company locations has a “rich history” and has allowed Lisa to “learn and work along side some truly gifted stylists who have been in the industry for over 30 years.” Lisa brags that her “clients and coworkers are the reason that I love to do what I do.”A huge part of Lisa’s clientele is working with the New England Patriots Cheerleaders - which has been an amazing experience. “I have had the opportunity to work with amazing people, travel to beautiful locations and see my work in print for the past 3 years.”
