New Art Space Opens Next week

Brookline Market Hall keeps talent local, dazzles with world-class collection.

Imagine walking into a local shop and seeing a diverse, creative collection of sustainable fine arts and crafts. Then imagine learning that all this breathtaking work was created by artists who live in your community. Then imagine engaging in a conversation with an artist, only to find out that he or she made the piece you were admiring!

Beginning April 17, at 2 Brookline Place, Brookline Village, this fantasy becomes a reality.

To kick off this groundbreaking space, the public is invited to the Grand Opening Celebration on Saturday, April 26, at 2 p.m. The opening will feature over 20 artists in conjunction with Brookline Open Studios.

When Brookline artists Jill A. Winitzer and Michelle Rothman spoke about how many creative peers they know who are seeking both distribution and recognition, Lisa Trachtman, owner of Brookline boutique Abeille, saw an opportunity. Trachtman knew firsthand about the limitations of online distribution. She also understood the benefits of featuring locally sourced jewelry, apparel, and gifts. Jill, Michelle and Lisa expanded on that vision to build a monumental new space.

With the opening of Brookline Market Hall, a juried artisan and sustainable market in Brookline Village, there are four benefits:

  1. Create a gathering space where local artists and art lovers can inspire each other.
  2. Offer metro Boston residents a constant offering of brilliant art at a fair price.
  3. Give local artists resources a springboard to make a living as artists.
  4. Promote eco-friendly practices since creation and distribution are local.

The large “Hall” space will host monthly events and weekend markets. The first Market Hall event showcases the work of 10 local Brookline artists as part of Brookline Open Studios on April 26, and April 27, from noon to 6 p.m.

Brookline Market is currently accepting applications for the semi-permanent collection in the following categories: Fine Artists, Crafters, Artisans, Designers and Vintage vendors. Additional categories may be considered based on uniqueness and fit. Apply online at BrooklineMarketHall.com.
