Boston Saengerfest
Men’s Chorus, comprised of enthusiastic singers from communities throughout
Greater Boston, brings its popular Christmas concert to two locations this
season --  Regis College and the First
Baptist Church in Newton Centre. A popular Greater Boston holiday tradition,
this rousing program of music for chorus, soloists and instrumentalists features
a mix of carols and sing-alongs as well as familiar holiday classics. The
first-half centerpiece is American composer Daniel Gawthrop’s moving "This
Child, This King" in a world premiere arrangement for male chorus timpani,
keyboard and harp by Saengerfest music director emeritus Michael Driscoll. Another
highlight is Conrad Susa's popular Spanish-influenced "Carols and
Lullabies: Christmas in the Southwest" for chorus, harp, guitar and
marimba. Featured guest artists for both concerts include harpist Barbara
Poeschl-Edrich, percussionist Brian Calhoon, and guitarist John Muratore.
